Gibberellic acid (GA3 90%) 2 grams

Gibberellic acid (GA3 90%) which is a growth regulator, promotes cell elongation and stem growth and also helps regulate the dormancy process. An interesting use of this regulator is the breaking of seed dormancy. You can thus germinate seeds which are very difficult and without going through the stage of hot or cold stratification.

GA3 is soluble in 70% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol). Use a small amount of alcohol to dilute the GA3, wait a few minutes while stirring the solution. If you still see undiluted powder, pour in a little alcohol to dilute everything well.

Use a 500 ppm solution for very difficult to germinate seeds. A 250 ppm solution is recommended for seeds that are difficult or long to germinate. Soak for 24 hours.

Seeds with a hard husk can be treated in a 750-1000 ppm solution. You can scarify the seeds beforehand to help the absorption of GA3. Soak for up to 3 days.

For seeds that are easy to germinate, use only a low concentration of about 25 to 100 ppm and soak for 2-3 hours maximum.

Formula for the desired concentration:

mg(GA3) / ml(water) X 1000= ppm
